Sign-up begins at 8:30PM with performances to begin at 9PM. Performances are capped at 7 minutes.
Our backline includes a piano, 4 chorded mics, Ampeg’s BA-210 2x10″ Bass Combo Amp, and a Marshall DSL401 Guitar Amp.
Starr Bar is a social justice bar with zero tolerance for racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. We expect all performers and audience members to treat each other with respect and we will intervene with performances that do not follow these guidelines.
This event has no cover, but we amicably enforce a 1 food/drink item minimum.

CorletteNY, a Caribbean taqueria that specializes in island-inspired tacos as wells as classic island dishes! The Blue Nile Jam Session is Brooklyn's newest monthly open mic and live music jam session that happens ever FIRST THURSDAY! The first 4 months have been standing room only and we will be back again on June 1st!
The Blue Nile Jam Session is dedicated to providing a nurturing space for all artists from all backgrounds, genres, and identities to come and express themselves. We are rooted in the beautiful Crown Heights Community and are hosted by the venue Stratosphere Studios (A BLACK OWNED BUSINESS WHAT WHAAAAAT!).
VOCALISTS get on the open mic list at 7pm! MUSICIANS sit in with the band! DANCERS we will clear space on the hardwood floors for you! VISUAL ARTISTS there is wall space (hit us with a message in advance to work out details).
We have an amazing space, an amazing house band, an amazing DJ, amazing feature artists, and amazing hosts however… we are nothing without YOU!

Bay Ridge’s legendary Greenhouse Café is home to “Original Thursdays”, the finest original music showcase in South Brooklyn and an energetic open mic! We provide a warm, friendly atmosphere for artists to come and entertain a supportive audience.
Host Max Christopher curates a prime selection of musical acts for the featured sets every week from 8:30PM-10PM. Each of the three featured acts receives ~30 minutes to showcase their original songs. From 10PM to the end, our open mic allows for a wide variety talent to shine, from music and poetry to comedy and magic!
Our backline includes an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar amp, and a digital piano. We ask that all artists keep their acts light on noise and explicit language. No acoustic drum kits are allowed, but electronic kits and hand drums (bongoes, cajones, etc.) are welcome!
We love to see artists off all stripes at “Original Thursdays”! Happy entertaining!

Austin Alexis is the author of the full-length collection Privacy Issues (Broadside-Lotus Press) as well as two chapbooks published by Poets Wear Prada. He has work recently in 2 Rivers Review, Chiron Review, Home Planet News On-line, Boog City (100th Issues) and The New Verse News. He has poetry forthcoming in Rabbit Ears: TV Poems, the first anthology of poetry about television (New York Quarterly Press). He has fiction in the recent issue of Home Planet News On-line.
Kim Darlene Brandon is a storyteller, a novelist, a poet, and activist. Kim is the founder of the Brooklyn Society Writers Group. She advanced her studies in fiction writing at the New School, Women of Color Writer’s Workshops, and at Medgar Evers College. Her work is included in the anthology “The Dream Catcher’s Song.” She is also published in the Hawaiian Review, the Peregrine Journal, Boarders and Boundaries an anthology. Her work was produced in the 50 In 50 theater productions in 2018 and in 2019. She hopes to publish her first of five novels, Baltimore City Blues in 2020.
David Huberman has work published in Evergreen Review, A Gathering of Tribes, Long Shot, Icon, and many other literary journals. He's performed at The Public Theater, PS 122, and LaMama Theater, and many other performance venues.
Eve Packer; Bronx-born, poet/performer: NYSCA, NYFA, Jerome Foundation, other awards. 3 books, skulls head samba; playland poems 1994-2004; new nails(2011) (Fly By Night Press), & several poetry/jazz CD’s with saxophonist Noah Howard & others.
