Dave Hates Chico has been setting the standard at Seattle's open mikes for a good long time, both hosting its own and performing at others. The Merchants Cafe Tuesday Night Open Mike experience can best be likened to the Nobel selections in its quieter times, with its thoughtful inventiveness and polite applause, and on the rowdier nights, it more closely resembles BattleBots, with the sounds of shredding metal and fevered groupies craving heavy rock carnage.
