Jersey City Slam is a nationally recognized poetry slam and open mic now in its 10th season. Come check us out at our NEW home at Snapdragon Coffee and Social every second Thursday of the month.
What is a poetry slam? The poetry slam is an interactive poetry competition putting the power in the hands of the judges picked at random from the audience letting the community decide who is the winner. Don't want to compete but still want to perform? There is an open mic before the slam open to any discipline (music, comedy, poetry, bar tricks) and to people of all walks of life with something to share.
Admission is only $5. Grab yourself a coffee, a little bit to eat and enjoy yourself. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show starts promptly at 7 PM.

Open mic held the first Thursday of every month at the Butler Cafe inside CoolVines Powerhouse location.
Our backline consists of a PA with two microphones, and a guitar amp. Occasionally more gear is available.

About About TANASHIA BOON
Tanashia Boon was born and raised in Jersey City. She graduated from County Prep High School in June of 2013. She currently attends William Paterson University, where she majors in English literature and secondary education and minors in theater. She stays active in her school�s poetry scene, and just recently got the opportunity to perform in her school�s showing of the Vagina Monologues.

About Nick E. Finn
Nick E Finn is an Irish-American poet, playwright, actor, and arts educator from Seattle, WA. Nick received Bachelors’ Degrees from the University of Washington in Political Science and Sociology, later earning his Master’s Degree in Teaching from Fordham University. Nick trained as an actor at The Wynn Handman Studios. Nick has featured his work at The Bushwick Starr, CATCH Series, 3LD, JACK, The National Black Theatre in Harlem, and The Nuyorican Poet’s Café. Nick lives in Bushwick with his wife Mairys and is proud to call Brooklyn home.
