Hosted by Pete Gallagher and Pat Barmore
8801 West Gulf Blvd.Saint Petersburg, FL 727-360-2272
- Michael Southern plays songs from his new album "Freedom Ryder" Thursdays at the Folk Night at Ka'Tiki. Well worth it. He's had crackerjack musicians with him in the past (working out new solo stuff now) but the songs are very James McMurtry-esque. And Michael is interesting to talk with. Ask him about his Lakota sweat lodge experiences in South Dakota. I can't forget to mention that Pete Gallagher and Pat Barmore are great hosts. If you play and want to be part of the show, they accomodate well, pacing the show to give the artist the best exposure. Neat place, great music and the one musical stop to make if you're making only one in Florida.
Jeff Jensen (5/2007)- Keep in mind that outdoor beach front means hot and humid with drunken tourists most of the year, but it gets some good musicians thanks to the hosts.
K. C. Kurtwood (1/2007)- Florida's best singer songwriters under the big chickee of the last authentic beach bar on the west coast of Florida, outside, covered, Gulf of Mexico right there. Featured artist plays an hour. Music runs 7 p.m. (sunset) until 11 The Bluebird Café of the flowered land. No John Prine music allowed unless John stops by to sing it himself.
John Prine (9/2006)-
"The Bluebird Café of Florida, the top acoustic music experience in the Southeastern United States" Musical Magazine.
Every Thursday, from sundown until 11 p.m.
Beneath the “big chickee” on beautiful Sunset Beach, Treasure Island
