howdy folks… rick here, co-host of the banjo jim's most awesome open mic… we've been attracting more, & more great songwriter/players to our weekly saturday afternoon open mic (sign 2:45… play 3-6:30)… & it's continually getting a large turnout… & every week full of surprises… this is a high energy, good time event… it's all about the music… all genres… encouraged is original material, trying out new stuff, finding people to play together, & hanging to listen to the other players… we have piano, bass amp, small guitar amp, drums (bring your own cymbals), instrument & vocal mics, PA… you can email banjo jim's to pre-sign… but do it by friday night… & sometimes we don't get the emails… we try to accomodate everyone, & we got a lot of folks to deal with… people who get pissy or pushy about how things are going down shouldn't bother coming… also, please support this gracious venue by purchasing some beverages (alcoholic or non)… and oh yeah… sometimes we have problems with the sound… the equipment sees a lot of action… we do our best & we're always learning… so c'mon down… this is one of the best mics you can play !

oepn mikes float around, they come and go, they evolve and eventually fade, and another one begins to draw the good energy. currently this one is on the upswing, it's pretty strong and word is getting out. good quality, loyal core, decent sound and good audience focus. there is an upright piano too. nice variety of styles come each week, it's not all confessionals. rick is a pretty solid host, keeps it going on the upbeat. sign up at 2:30, music starts around 3pm. ends at 7, so there's lots of time for everyone to play.
